The Haven proudly announces the success of their recent fundraising event held on Friday 10th May 2024 at St Andrew’s Parish Church, Blantyre, which brought together local community members, supporters, and volunteers in a display of generosity and solidarity, and raised over an incredible £2,000 to support the charity’s cause.
The Haven is an award-winning Scottish charity, formed in 2001 to help empower adults, children, young people, and carers to cope with the complex emotional, physical, and practical impact of illness and bereavement.
The Haven’s services have a significant focus on supporting clients to develop self-management coping strategies and skills. The charity encourages clients to utilise these new skills every day as this has a lasting positive impact on their daily lives.
Attendees of the charity evening enjoyed an uplifting and inspiring performance from the talented and engaging Hamilton Rock Choir, who treated everyone to an array of rock and pop anthems, and a set list that matched the high energy of the audience - all in aid of a worthwhile cause.
Paul Hayward, Campaigns and Communications Officer for The Haven, said: "We are thrilled by the overwhelming support we received from the local community. The generosity displayed by everyone involved truly demonstrates the collective commitment to making a positive difference in the lives of those we support.”
All proceeds raised during the event will help The Haven provide free and essential support services to individuals, families, and carers affected by a life-limiting illness and bereavement and contribute to the charity’s cause.
Michelle McInally, Change Manager for HSBC, said “The Haven is such a wonderful cause, and at the heart of my own community. It was a pleasure to support the event as a volunteer, meet the staff, and participate in the fundraising activity. I’m delighted that through my employer and our volunteering initiative that I’ve been able to contribute to the success of the evening”.
The Haven extends their sincere gratitude to all who contributed to the success of this event and would like to thank St. Andrew’s Parish Church for the use of this excellent venue once again free of charge.
Paul added: “We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to everyone involved in helping the event run smoothly, specifically: Andy Williamson, Geoff & Val Krawczyk, and Alastair Jamieson from St Andrew’s Parish Church for their hospitality; Volunteers Michelle and Stephanie (from HSBC) and Kenny and Mark (The Haven) who very kindly gave up their time to help out on the day and to ensure everyone had a great evening; CEO of The Haven, Janice and staff members, Alison, Louise and Dale, for giving up their time to help out; and of course the amazing Hamilton Rock Choir, who delivered a fantastic performance and lifted everyone’s spirits.
Thank you all for helping to make a meaningful difference in our local community”.
