LOCAL HERO COMPLETES 22-MILE CHARITY WALK TO SUPPORT THOSE AFFECTED BY LIFE-LIMITING ILLNESSES

In a remarkable display of dedication and compassion, local community member, James Brown, from Blantyre successfully completed a gruelling 22-mile charity Kiltwalk walk in Edinburgh to raise funds in aid of The Haven – a local charity dedicated to providing support for individuals, families and carers affected by a life-limiting illness and bereavement.

James embarked on this inspiring journey to help make a difference to the lives of those experiencing difficult times, and to support a local cause that provides emotional, mental and wellbeing support to those journeying through bereavement or where a friend or family member is unwell due to a life-limiting illness.

The Kiltwalk is Scotland’s largest mass participation walking event. A record-breaking 7,000 Kiltwalk Heroes stepped out for 710 Scottish charities on the 17th September 2013, in the BIGGEST EVER Kiltwalk in the Capital!

James travelled to Edinburgh to participate in the 22-mile ‘Mighty Stride’, which he completed in an impressive 6hrs 17mins in support of The Haven. He has already raised an incredible £270.00 which will help towards their mission in providing vital and sustainable services to the local community and to those who could benefit most from Haven support.

Paul Hayward, Campaigns and Communications Officer for The Haven, said “We are so grateful to people like James who are advocates and supporters of our cause, and want to make a significant impact to those people we help support. James has supported The Haven for many years, and this type of support helps us to continue to develop and strengthen many exciting programs of support for families living in the community.

We rely on the generosity and dedication of individuals like James who fundraise for The Haven, and who help us to make a real difference in the lives of those we support. We’re so grateful to James and everyone who very kindly made donations. Their kindness and generosity will make a significant impact, and we are so appreciative of their contribution to our cause”.

The Haven would like to sincerely thank James for his dedication and ongoing support and for helping to raise vital funds in aid of The Haven.
